When I think about Frida Kahlo, I think of…sadness and quiet strength. Don’t get me wrong, she was still an amazing artist. From surviving/recovering a bus crash, multiple miscarriages to an intense marriage, you have to know that she had to have a lot of strength to continue going on day to day. It takes tremendous strength and courage to keep rising up and facing the face, no matter what. Although me and Frida would disagree over her decision to join a Communist Party, we would definitely share a love for art. I consider myself as an encourager and a woman who loves to provide hope even in hardships, so I would let any differences aside to reach out to her in the midst of the hardship she had to endure. We are all people. As people, we’re never going to agree on every little thing, but we can unite for the greater good especially for any common ground that’s found. I would like to say that if we were alive during the same time, that I would like to be friends to her, I hope. Usually appearances of public figures tend to be the opposite of what we expect anyway 🙂 so, I would only HOPE. We all could use a little hope, no matter what.
I was definitely amazed when Frida Kahlo decided to learn to paint while recovering from that bus crash. In defense, yeah she was most likely bored being bedridden all day so she had to do something, right? Being bedridden could be extremely tough especially in a recovery season so I applaud her for doing that. It seemed like she could always find something to focus on no matter what she went through, and that I know leads to anyone’s comeback for sure, speaking from my own personal experience as well.
There’s definitely many hardships in Frida’s journey, sadly, but I will always applaud her strength to continue going. Life isn’t easy but she still pulled through, not perfectly of course due to her struggles with drugs and alcohol. She tried her best but I believe her broken heart just couldn’t endure it fully. I will always admire her though. She was a woman of strength whether she realized it or not.
